ABOUT POTENTE

Potente, the highly anticipated, new restaurant from Houston Astros-Owner Jim Crane, is located in downtown Houston across the street from Minute Maid Park and next door to the more casual trattoria, Osso & Kristalla.

It’s fitting to have the restaurants so close to where the Houston Astros play, since baseball is the great family pastime as much as gathering around the table is to enjoy a meal. In keeping with the importance of family, Mr. Crane named the restaurants after his three children.

The sophisticated Italian restaurant is a dining experience like no other in Houston. Its interior, designed by the Houston office of Gensler, is evocative of an Italian Villa with a modern twist, featuring a spacious bar alongside the main dining space.

Potente is open for dinner and focuses on using local products and only the highest quality ingredients. The kitchen is overseen by Executive Chef Danny Trace.

The menu features daily seafood selections, homemade pastas and USDA steaks. The restaurant’s extensive wine list features a large selection of Italian wines, as well as a section of California’s finest vintners.

Potente boasts one of the best Happy Hour menus in downtown Houston. Enjoy specially priced food and drink options in our bar.

Host your next Private Event in one of the three private spaces, which feature custom chandeliers, window pieces and high-back tufted furniture designed to create a comfortable yet sophisticated lounge environment.

Join us before your next Houston Astros game at Minute Maid Park, for a business meeting downtown or a romantic dinner soon.

ABOUT JIM CRANE

Jim Crane is an American businessman based in Houston. He is the chairman of the Houston Astros & Crane Worldwide Logistics. Jim Crane has a long history of giving back to the Houston community, most recently investing $34 million to save the Houston Open and refurbish Memorial Park golf course for a year long golf and education facility.

He has also most recently been honored as the 2019 Houston Sports Award Executive of the Year. In December 2018, Jim Crane was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame, and in May 2018 Jim received the Public Service Award from the American Leadership Forum.

Jim’s interest in the food & beverage industry extends beyond Potente & the more casual Osso & Kristalla; in addition to these restaurants, Crane partnered with winemaker Jesse Katz at Aperture Cellars in Sonoma County in 2019. Crane’s love for wine is reflected in the extensive wine menus featured at both restaurants, and he’s always looking for the next great vintage.
